Why should I wear rune gloves even though Blue

My question is: at level 57 and hoping to reach 70 or more What would you suggest in terms of equipment and what to practice on? I've got about 1m in my bank (the abrupt fall of RS gold the Abyssal Whip hasn't been a good thing for me!) and if I sold my current range of gear, I'd likely have around 1.2m.

I'm currently learning with pyrefiends, and am using the equipment: Archer Helm/Helm of Neitiznot, blue D'hide body, blue d'hide chaps blue d'hide vambraces Ava's Accumulator, dragon boots amulet of glory mithril and magic shortbows. It's also worth noting that I mentioned above my ranged level which is currently at 57 (not too far off the 58th level) and my defense levels are 64. Any suggestions for what gear to use, which weapons to choose and what to practice on would be highly appreciated!

So I decided to go back to Runescape this morning, only to find that everything has been changed a lot, Mages are as armored and HP. As do Meleers have skills, abilities, an action bar, and lots of other things that left me with a few questions I require help with:

What are the most suitable boots to wear for Melee? ( After doing a lot of study, I discovered that the best stats are found on Mage's batwing boots. Are there any better boots?, and do there are any consequences to wearing them in melee?)

Why should I wear rune gloves even though Blue Dragon vambs and Batwing gloves are the same, however are much less expensive? Why should I wear rune armor in the first place!? ( Other than Vs Ranged) Is it me or have the changes made Melee the PVP's new underdog? Does someone who plays Melee play pk very well? ( and what's the best setup for him to play that) Do you think an Amulet of Str no longer needed? ( I don't know the whole thing about crits) Thanks for spending the time to answer my question.

So I am working on an updated list of Adventures to add to my next log. I'm not sure at this moment what I want to accomplish. I'm trying to avoid "getting the 99!" because I'm not that kind of person. I prefer more tangible goals/etc over getting a 99.

One thing I am certain of is the art of divination. I'm not a fan, but I must train for in it, at least some...I would like to keep it off until they can come up with better training methods for buy OSRS gold it. (I'm thinking that 48-70 is an appropriate goal currently)
