Destiny 2: Beyond Light Unveils New Stasis Subclasses

Phantasy Star Online 2 is the kind of game I will happily sink tens of thousands of hours if someone ever asks me if they need to begin playing it I will say no. It's an anime MMO with absurdly detailed character customization, demanding hack-n-slash battle, along with PSO2 Meseta a grind. However, the things I love about PSO2 are also buried under frustrations which make it hard to recommend. During the Xbox Games Showcase last weekend, Sega surprised the community by declaring Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis--and, from the looks of this, New Genesis is a thrilling bid to repair a number of these sins.

What New Genesis really is, however, is somewhat confusing. It is basically a standalone game--an entirely different free-to-play MMO to PSO2--that's set a thousand years in the future. It features an entirely new graphics engine, upgraded combat and character customization methods, and environments which are far larger than PSO2's tight corridor-style levels. At precisely the same time, Sega is saying that the two MMOs will actually work in tandem: Characters from PSO2 can freely jump between the old version and New Genesis, with the majority of cosmetics carrying over while progression will be kept independent. PSO2 will continue getting its updates but will also get the graphical upgrades of New Genesis so both look more similar.

There is still a lot of questions regarding how this may work--not to mention why Sega decided to divide its MMO into different games in such a confusing manner--but I'm prepared to be optimistic because the potential this is clear. Regardless of being eight years old, PSO2 has some clever ideas I want other MMOs would pay attention to. At greater difficulties, one wrong move can get you killed, which puts a stressed but exciting emphasis on aligning ideal combos and analyzing enemy movements so you understand when to dodge. Its nine classes vary from gun-wielding Rangers that change the game into a third-person shot to Bouncers that fly around on a pair of rocket boots. Assessing the dozens of class skills and the way they work together is enjoyable, so I don't care that the graphics are outdated and also the levels lack variety. PSO2 is all about killing stuff.

For an eight-year-old MMO, there are some surprising creations to battle, however. While developers like Bungie and Gearbox are always patching out"loot caves" to stop players from denying that the mill, PSO2 turns it into a strangely compelling minigame. Parties who manage to kill enough monsters in a specific area quickly enough can trigger a special event that triggers more creatures to spawn rapidly and can you buy meseta on pso2 increase the probability of them falling rare loot. If the party will continue to kill these respawning monsters in a quick enough pace--it is not easy--the time limit on the event is extended. It encourages players to work collectively, with the reward being an endless torrent of monsters to kill and loot to scoop up. 1 time I had a party that dragged this out for a thrilling 15 minutes.
