RUSSIAN SHAWLS - SYMBOL OF RUSSIA

 

At first of the 19th century, it became fashionable to wear woolen shawls in Russia. The first shawls were stated in the small town Pavlovsky Posad in the Moscow Oblast in the midst of the 19th century ushanka. The basic tone of the woolen shawls is usually black whilst the composition of the motives is a combination of large and small floral ornaments. Mostly roses are the motives on the scarfs. The shawls were often worn with traditional Russian folk costumes.

 

The predominant color on the shawls happens to be red, as this color means beautiful in Russian culture. Furthermore, Oriental and Turkish ornaments on the scarves had also been popular. The scarves continue to be enjoying a good popularity in Russia and its surrounding countries.

 

How did kokoshnik arrive at russia?

 

In ancient times, the tiaras were low, with a modest finish, and wore them, weaving to the hairstyle. Byzantium VI – VII centuries A.D. these were made from gold and decorated with precious stones, the garments themselves were massive and consisted of several parts. Byzantine tiaras came to Russia, presumably in the X century, married women wore them as well as other dresses. The word "kokoshnik" was initially mentioned in a document of the 17th century and dates back to the old Russian word "kokosh" - "chicken". 
The hat got its Russian name for its resemblance to chicken scallop. After the decree of Peter I, the nobles dressed up in European dress, kokoshnik remained in the wardrobe of merchants. Listed here is a story. It was interesting?

Russians hats are extremely popular all over the world.

 

The key symbol of the Russian hat is, obviously, "ushanka" (a bomber hat). It was a hot functional headgear in the Soviet Army which soon became a social icon of the Soviet Union. Russia was home to a lot more than 150 million people - of which just about half were ethnic Russians.

 

The range of colors for traditional costume displays love for beauty and ethnic diversity.
