The Philadelphia Eagles accomplished everything they needed to on Thanksgiving in the first two possessions/11 minutes of the game. Together, the two spearheaded a hot start for the offense.

Jeremy Maclin added eight receptions for 108 yards to give the sixth-year wideout his first ever 1,000-yard season. Jordan Matthews’ uptick in production also continued, with four catches for Bayern Munich jerseys 2015 51 yards and a touchdown.

Yet it was Philadelphia’s defense that really sealed the deal after the initial surge by the offense. The Eagles went 1-for-5 in the red zone, which allowed the Cowboys to hang in the game longer than they had any right to.

DeMarco Murray had his worst game of the season. The NFL’s leading rusher was limited to 73 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries. Vinny Curry, Brandon Graham and Casey Matthews were each credited with a sack. Brandon Boykin had a key forced fumble, recovered by Nate Allen. Allen and Cary Williams came away with picks.

And the Eagles came away with a huge W, not only taking over sole possession of first place in the NFC East, but a commanding lead. Philadelphia is 3-0 against division opponents, Dallas 2-2, which means even if the Cowboys manage to split the season series at Lincoln Financial Field in two weeks, they may need some help to unseat the Birds.

Hard to imagine a better way to celebrate the holiday than putting the Cowboys in their place—second place, that is.
