Artist: MADOA Genre: Hip Hop Location: Raleigh, NC
Back in the army barracks, Madoa always dreamed of making his passion for music into something more. What was once a daydream is now part of his everyday reality, Madoa has come a long way from free-styling in his room and recording songs through a mic on his computer; he is now performing with the likes of The Clipse and Mya and professionally recording his songs.
Madoa’s hip-hop stylings have captured the crowds wherever he performs and created a large and loyal following. While he has had many influences, such as: Nas, Tupac, AZ, Cormega, Biggie and Wu-tang, among others, his music is unique and multi-faceted. “I am real diverse and open as far as what I can do musically,” Madoa said. “I am lyrical, conscious, enlightening, passionate, humorous and emotional at times.” One illustration of that is found in the origins of Madoa’s name. It is an acronym he came up with in high school. It stands for: Mentally Advance Descendant Of Africa. “It is a name that I strive to live up to,” he said.
“Hip-hop is something that I am good at,” he said. It’s something I would do regardless of the amount of success I get out of it. It is a God-given talent that I am grateful for, and I will never sacrifice my integrity by compromising my music to please others.”
