Kids Bible Lessons Is Someone There to explain to Them

Yeah, it happens all too often. People are just way over reserved and expanded to the limit. They've worked all week and they're spent. The reality is that there isn't much you can do about it. Volunteers are the heart of the church. These aren't paid workers and you have to live with that fact.

You are Voiced For

Here is another reality. The majority of children's owners do not have the posh to "float" during a church service. You are either on the schedule already or are functioning in some other capacity. You just can't step up to fill the requirement. You can't call someone else as of this late hour, that wouldn't be fair. It's time for a deep inhale and a quick prayer. Yeah, I've been there many times and I have a couple suggestions that might help you along in the future.

Be Aggressive

The problem won't disappear. Plan ahead and make a plan now! I used these suggestions in my ministry and that might just be what you ought to ease that making feeling too. Prepare a kids Somebody lesson for all the different age brackets in your kids ministry. Choose a good general purpose lesson that will work anytime. Keep all the supplies of the Somebody lesson in a box at church with a copy of the lesson. This may include object lessons, craft supplies for plenty of kids, music, even juice boxes, fruit snacks (things that have a long ledge life). Make it a simple, easy to follow lesson. When that dreaded call comes, you can contact a replacement without feeling like you're hanging them out to dry! The Somebody lesson is prepared and all set.

Go One Better

Get a few trusted volunteers to be on call. Don't abuse this! If you call them every other week, it gets old and will backfire. Give a copy of the lesson to your "on call" volunteers.

Keep the supplies at the church and they're ready to rock. Keeping the supplies at the church is an alternative way to guard against your "on call" you are not selected not being able to make it at the eleventh hour! This could happen due to a health problem or bad weather.

Being aggressive has saved me again and again! Hey, stuff will always happen and you can't be prepared for everything. But, putting in a little extra effort up front is a win/win for you and your kids!
